
discovery In the year 2001 I came across the stuckist movement while reading a book called "Real Conversations, No. 1: The death of independent everything" [available at AK Press], which featured among others an interview with stuckism co-founder Billy Childish. In this interview he explained the motivation to found a movement that was free of the theatricals that normally accompany todays art happenings and took the creative process back to the realm of brush, colours and canvas.
manifestos Both the Stuckist Manifesto and the the Remodernism Manifesto can also be found online at the stuckism website [www.stuckism.com]. I endorse most points in both documents.
network Out of the original London stuckists developed a community of meanwhile more than 100 independent international stuckist groups [see Stuckism International Directory] who all have interesting things to say and show.
modus operandi The do-it-yourself attitude displayed is very refreshing and has been one of the cornerstones of my own philosophy for the better part of twenty years. If somebody has something meaningful to say they should be able to say it. Sticks and stones ..., you know the words.
